Armour Birthday Celebrations

Armour Association gathers to celebrate the birthday of the Armour Corps.

As every Armour member knows the date of 18 October 1946, was the day the South African Armour Corps was established.

18 October 2010 saw members of the South African Armour Association gather to celebrate this annual birthday event at Evenden House in Lyttelton which has become the home of the Associations bi-monthly meeting and lunches.

The 2010 event saw a good turnout of both old and new members and the national executive is pleased to see so many pantser-manne and associates come and celebrate.

The Association was also honoured to host a number of serving members led by the GOC SA Army Armour Formation, Brig Gen B. C Gildenhuys, SSO R&D, Col A. Retief and CWO A. Mabote, the then newly appointed Formation Sergeant Major.

The Association is always pleased to have so many senior members with us, as always led by our Master Crew Commander Lt Gen Jack Dutton.

The gathering was addressed by a number of dignitaries including Brig Gen Gildenhuys, Brig Gen Van Niekerk (ret), Brig Gen Van Graan (ret), Lt Gen Jack Dutton.
