Pictures from Armour Association Events

Tuesday 26th of April saw the 7th running of the annual UMR Welcome Maiden Juvenile Plate. This event has managed to draw a good turn out and has become a feature not only on the socail calendar but to the Association as well.

This year's event was just as successful and the Officer Commanding Umvoti Mounted Rifles, Lt Col Pat Titlestad MMM PB JCD had these words to say at the Evening function

"We wish to thank Gold Circle and especially the Greyville Racecourse for their assistance in organizing this event. This is now the 7th year that we have been fortunate enough to hold this Race Meeting at Greyville. To our sponsors, we wish to thank you for your continued support and, as always, for sharing in this event. As a Historical Cavalry Regiment, it is fitting that we are involved with the Equine and Equestrian fraternity."

At the Function, CWO HJ ("Floors") Venter (Ret), the immediate past Sergeant Major of the SA Army Armour Formation, was awarded Honorary Membership of the UMR.

Seen in a jovial mood at the Greyville Function were Lt Col Pat Titlestad, CWO Floors Venter and Lt Col Mike Herbst (Ret), National President of the SA Armour Association.
Shortly before the Race meeting was about to begin a squall passed over the course and immediately thereafter this wonderful rainbow appeared.

(Not quite sure whether or not the "Pot o' Gold" is buried somewhere on the Marine Parade in Durban, though.)

These senior Members of the Arm Assn were also celebrating the fact that they had received their Commissions 58 years before, on 20 March 1953, at the successful completion of their Cadet Course.
