"Soms val daar 'n groot boom in 'n woud met onomkeerbare gevolge." Dit is hoe Chris Greyling van die Spesmagte en Pan-Afrikaanse Veiligheidsvereniging die afsterwe van Henri Boshoff beskryf het.
Military analyst Henri Boshoff, friend, colleague and comrade was tragically killed on Monday 25th April 2011 while on his way to the annual ANZAC Memorial Service presented by the Australian High Commission in Pretoria. He leaves behind a wife, Leonie, and son Jean. He was 54-years-old.
Henri, commonly called "Bossie" by his friends worked for the Institute for Security Studies where his area of expertise was terrorism, peacekeeping, support to the police and African politics.
He was also was deeply involved in Military Veterans affairs in Pretoria.
He served his country as a Full time and Part time officer of the South African Infantry Corps until 2000 and was involved with the operational planning of internal and external operations.
Bossie was the chairman of the Pretoria Branch of the SA Legion as well as the Pretoria Memorial Services Council.
In July this year, Henri was due to lead a tour of military veterans to commemorate the 95th Anniversary of the Battle of Delville Wood in The Somme, France.
He will always be remembered for what he has done for South African veterans in and around Pretoria.
