Introduction
In 2008 September 2008 The National Executive Council of the SA Armour Association embarked on Project Armour Heritage (the Project) with the view to funding, writing, editing and, ultimately, publishing and distributing a book to be called, The Black Beret - Story of the South African Armour.
The responsibility to coordinate these activities and to bring the Project to fruition has been vested in the Armour Heritage Plenary Committee (the Committee).
Since 2008 a great deal of research gathering and coordination has been carried out by the plenary committee. In addition the funds required to run such a project had to be obtained through donations and sponsorship.
As the deadline for publishing approaches, the Committee can report that the final editing of the manuscript is underway by the review committee and very soon the final manuscript will be ready to be sent to the printers for typesetting.
The National President of the Armour Association would like to extend his thanks and gratitude to all those members who have and still are actively involved in the project and would like to encourage all interested parties to place their pre-orders for this seminal work on the South African Armour Corps.
